The state governor, Héctor Astudillo, recently announced the direct flight from Cancun to Acapulco for October 27, 2019, operated by Interjet. He also announced the reboot of its flight from Zihuatanejo to Toluca that will begin operations on November 3, 2019.

On the Cancun-Acapulco route, Interjet will offer 3 flights per week and on the Toluca-Zihuatanejo, 7. At a press conference, the Secretary of State Tourism, Ernesto Rodríguez Escalona, the general director of OMA, Ricardo Dueñas and the commercial director of Interjet, Julio Gamero, endorsed the importance of Guerrero on the national tourist scene. Gamero said that Interjet has the state of Guerrero as a strategic point. This has become clear over the years, by supporting and offering more and more flights, all in the spirit of attracting more tourism and promoting development in the area.

He explained that these flights will be operated via Airbus A320 and the itinerary between Acapulco and Cancun, contemplates a start of 3 days a week and is expected to increase to a daily flight and will have an introductory cost of $999 MXN. He said that, in addition to increasing the exchange between these two cities, there is a potential to bring air traffic originating in Europe and South America, diversifying the tourist offer and being able to benefit Acapulco and Zihuatanejo. As for the flight from Toluca-Zihuatanejo, a daily frequency will be offered, with a cost from $849 MXN.

“These are very attractive prices and we are sure they will have an excellent acceptance,” said Julio Gamero. In the same way, he endorsed Interjet’s commitment to Guerrero, representing growth in the routes. He announced that as of October, Acapulco flights to Mexico City will rise 35%, going from 37 to 50 weekly.
